With some airlines such as British Airways, Virgin and Emirates offering a flight sale, Flybe has taken a rather different approach to attracting flight sale bookings in January. It is offering free redundancy cancellation insurance cover for flights.

Flybe is the UK’s leading domestic airline and is the dominant European regional airline.

Flybe flights booked in January will be covered by their Book With Confidence gauarantee. This means that flights, car hire and hotels booked before the end of January, for travel before 24 October 2009, will be covered by the Flybe free redundancy cancellation cover.

Mike Rutter, said ‘These are unprecedented times and Flybe wants to do our bit to keep the economy moving. That’s why we’re introducing our completely free redundancy cancellation cover so that consumers can book with us in January secure in the knowledge that if they lose their job before they travel, Flybe will give them a full refund.’

He also confirmed that ‘if one member of the party on the same booking is made redundant, any or all of the remaining members of that party can receive a refund.’

As well as covering the costs of the airfare and associated booking fee, baggage and seet fee costs, it also covers pre-paid car hire, hotel and parking costs. Any government or airport taxes will also be refunded.
